Common questions

  • Is residential treatment the right level of care for me?

Residential treatment can provide a step up when outpatient therapy is no longer enough, or a step down after inpatient hospitalization or another higher level of care when returning directly home would leave too large a gap. Mental Health Residential provides 24/7 support in a structured, live-in setting for women who no longer need hospital-level care but would benefit from continued clinical support before returning to everyday life. Our admissions team will learn what you need and help determine whether Mental Health Residential is the appropriate next step.

  • Will my insurance cover residential treatment?

Many PPO plans, on an out-of-network basis. What your own plan covers depends on the plan, so the only way to know is to check it: our admissions team will verify your benefits at no cost, before you decide anything.

  • What does a typical day at Mental Health Residential look like?

Each day at Mental Health Residential is structured without being rigid. Mornings always begin with movement, and the rest of the day balances individual therapy with our Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, group therapy led by a therapist, other groups run by clinicians and outside facilitators, case management, psychiatry, and services such as Tai Chi, acupuncture, breathwork, and meditation. The Idyllwild setting is used actively through walks, hikes, forest-based activities, outings, and time in the local community, so clients are not confined to the house throughout their stay. Breakfast is provided, and our chef prepares lunch and dinner daily, with room throughout the day for rest, community, and the ordinary routines of residential life. The exact schedule changes from day to day, but the goal stays consistent: treatment, movement, nature, nourishment, and 24/7 residential support working together as one connected experience.

  • How long do clients stay?

Most clients stay for around 30 days. The appropriate length depends on your clinical needs, progress, and insurance coverage. We discuss this with you before admission and continue reviewing it throughout your stay.

  • Can I come from out of state?

Yes. Mental Health Residential welcomes women from across the country. Our admissions team will explain what to expect, help you prepare for arrival, and guide you through the process before you travel.

  • How many other women will be there?

At most, five other clients. Mental Health Residential has six beds, although the actual number of women in the program changes as clients admit and discharge.

  • Who will be involved in my care?

Your care team includes a psychiatrist, nurse, licensed therapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, program director, case manager, behavioral health technicians, and an acupuncturist.

  • What if I am still deciding?

You do not need to make a decision before calling. Our admissions team can answer your questions, explain the program, review your insurance benefits, and help you determine whether Mental Health Residential fits what you need. There is no obligation to move forward.

We see you as whole. We give you the tools to carry your journey forward.
